Lillian Alves is of counsel in the firm’s Denver office and co-chair of the firm’s Government Regulatory & Administrative Law practice group. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees in May 2018, she was the Deputy Securities Commissioner at the Colorado Division of Securities. She is also a former federal prosecutor, having served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Colorado during her time with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She received the Colorado U.S. Attorney Award of Excellence as a result of her work with white collar, immigration, and child sexual exploitation prosecutions. Her experience also includes operating an in-house anti-counterfeiting program for a company that designs and manufactures protective solutions for smartphones and tablets. Ms. Alves clerked for the New Mexico Court of Appeals with the Honorable Michael E. Vigil, now a justice with the New Mexico Supreme Court.
Ms. Alves is experienced in complex litigation including jury trials, administrative hearings, motions practice, and appeals. She has led countless government investigations and enforcement actions as a federal prosecutor and state securities regulator. Since joining Gordon & Rees, Ms. Alves has leveraged her government experience to represent entity clients in state and federal grand jury investigations.
