DRI Profiles Ryan Brown's MSJ Victory

Ryan Brown and Patrick Moran's motion for summary judgment on behalf of a hospital is profiled in the April 25th edition of DRI's weekly e-newsletter, The Voice. The plaintiff, a former nursing assistant and clerk, alleged that she was harassed and discriminated against by her supervisor following a stroke, and that she was later terminated in retaliation for complaining to the hospital's director of human resources about the harassment and discrimination. In addition, the plaintiff alleged that the hospital failed to reasonably accommodate her disability, and instead, instituted heightened performance standards after her stroke and after complaining to the human resource director.

Ultimately, in a 21-page Opinion and Order, the court rejected plaintiff's claim and adopted each of Gordon & Rees's Employment Team arguments.
