Denver Partner Byeongsook Seo Receives Minoru Yasui Award From APABA of Colorado

On April 11, Gordon & Rees Denver partner Byeongsook Seo received the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) of Colorado’s Minoru Yasui Award at the APABA 2014 Annual Banquet.  The award – APABA’s highest honor – is given to an individual or group whose community service exemplifies the achievement of Yasui, who challenged the laws applied to Japanese-Americans during World War II and advocated for civil rights and liberties for American citizens, regardless of race or ethnicity.  The award was presented by fellow Gordon & Rees partner and past APABA president Franz Hardy.

Byeongsook was nominated based on his work streamlining the food stamp application process through the Colorado Lawyers Committee’s Food Stamp Task Force and his involvement in numerous community organizations, including the Asian Pacific Development Center, the Community Resource Center, Theatre Esprit Asia, and the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival.  He also is a former president of APABA of Colorado.

Byeongsook is a member of Gordon & Rees’s Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Practice Groups.  He has represented high-tech clients in disputes that ranged from patent and trade secret enforcement actions to sales involving high-tech products.  His clients have sought his guidance in matters related to failed business ventures and disputes among business partners.  Byeongsook also has represented clients in real estate litigation that involved architectural issues, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and real estate development projects.
