On December 8, 2016, Gordon & Rees sponsored the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of Colorado’s Holiday Party. The party was the culmination of a year’s worth of fantastic work done by SABA-CO. The event was hosted at a local Indian restaurant, Biju’s Curry House, and members had a great time connecting over good food and drink. During the event, members reviewed key accomplishments from 2016 and discussed goals for 2017.
In 2016, SABA-CO hosted nine events which led to increased awareness of the organization, accelerated its presence amongst the legal and South Asian communities, and developed leadership. It also partnered with other bar associations on many other events throughout the year. It was accredited to provide CLE programming and did so, and partnered with community organizations to educate communities about their legal rights. SABA-CO was also a leader in addressing challenging topics. It coordinated a widely attended forum called “Beyond the Safety Pin” to address an increase in hateful rhetoric post-election and provided ways for attorneys to get involved.
