Gordon & Rees Elevates Seven to Partnership in Offices Nationwide

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani has elevated seven attorneys to partnership. Experienced in a broad range of legal areas and located in offices throughout the country, these new partners are positioned to collaborate with our national practice groups to meet the varied legal needs of our clients.

The Gordon & Rees partnership ranks now include:

Gregory Bean is a partner in the Williamsburg office and a member of the Commercial Litigation, Estate and Trust Litigation, Environmental/Toxic Tort, Employment Law, Professional Liability Defense, Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors' Rights, and Community Association Law practice groups. He is a litigator who focuses his practice in estate and trust litigation, general commercial litigation, real estate litigation, employment litigation, community association representation, bankruptcy, and personal injury insurance defense (including general tort liability, premise liability, automobile accidents, and products liability). 

Julia Braun is a partner in the Westchester office and a member of the Commercial Litigation, Domestic Relations, Product & General Liability, Professional Liability Defense, and Trucking & Transportation practice groups. She focuses her practice on litigation, defense of high exposure claims, employment related matters and provides a comprehensive range of legal services required by all participants in the construction industry – architects, engineers, design professionals, owners, developers, general contractors and other affiliated consultants and service providers.

Gregory Brescia is a partner in the Westchester office and is a member of Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property, Business Transactions, and Advertising & E-Commerce practice groups. He is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on intellectual property prosecution and litigation, with a particular concentration on trademark, design and utility patents, and copyright matters. Brescia devises and implements world-wide patent and trademark expansion and enforcement strategies for his clients. He also has experience handling Internet law issues, such as Internet trademark and copyright infringement, Internet defamation and false advertising, website agreements, and information privacy and security disputes.

Erin Murphy is a partner in the Chicago office and a member of the Commercial Litigation and Employment Law practice groups. She focuses her practice on commercial, employment, and general litigation matters in both federal and state courts. She has extensive experience defending clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups throughout all stages of litigation. She has first-chaired 38 cases to verdict with favorable outcomes across Illinois. In addition to trial experience, Murphy has significant experience representing clients in mediations and arbitrations. She is also an accredited Cook County arbitrator, which provides a valuable perspective to her defense practice.

Courtney Nichol is a partner in the Chicago office and is a member of the Insurance, Technology Litigation, and Cyber, Privacy & Data Security practice groups. Her practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage and cyber security matters. Nichol regularly counsels and represents clients on insurance coverage issues, with an emphasis on fidelity bond, cyber and commercial crime policy claims. She also has extensive experience representing insurers across the nation in all aspects of complex litigation involving coverage disputes, defective technology, data breaches, cybercrime and commercial contract disputes. Nichol is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Michigan.

Laura Ryan is a partner in the San Francisco office and is a member of the Insurance, Professional Liability Defense, and Product & General Liability practice groups. Ryan's practice focuses on handling complex insurance coverage matters. She is an experienced litigator who defends insurers against breach of contract and bad faith claims.  She also defends insurance brokers against professional liability claims.  She is licensed to practice law in California and Massachusetts.

Karen Shimonsky is a partner in the Denver office and is a member of the Health Care, Professional Liability Defense, and Appellate practice groups. She primarily handles health care defense litigation including both long term care cases and medical malpractice cases. She also assists health care companies with other issues that inevitably arise in the industry including navigating regulatory issues, developing and implementing proactive risk management protocols, and providing general legal guidance as technical legal issues arise. Outside of the health care industry, Shimonsky handles products liability cases, complex business disputes, general professional malpractice including representing clients in administrative board matters, and a variety of diverse issues depending on her clients’ needs. She is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Florida.
