Gordon & Rees Raleigh partner Knicole Emanuel, Denver senior counsel Joshua Urquhart and Raleigh associate Dorothy "DeeDee" Murphy obtained a federal preliminary injunction in the Northern District of Indiana.
The case involved a longtime geneticist, Dr. Patricia Bader, who owns Northeast Indiana Genetic Counseling Center. Dr. Bader had provided genetic counseling and testing for Medicaid recipients for over 40 years. The State of Indiana terminated her Medicaid contract without cause, and she faced financial ruin. Gordon & Rees attorneys obtained a preliminary injunction enjoining the State from terminating her without cause. Dr. Bader is the only geneticist in northeastern Indiana.
The case involved approximately 10 witnesses, most of whom had not been deposed prior to the five-day trial.
