Gordon & Rees Co-Sponsors the 18th Annual Texas Minority Counsel Program

From September 1-3, the State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs will hold its 18th Annual Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP) at the Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. Gordon & Rees is proud to be both a sponsor of the event and have Andrew L. Wallace, an office partner in the Dallas office, on the Steering Committee for the program. Dallas office associate Soña Garcia served on the Dallas City Planning Committee for the conference.

The TMCP is the premier client development, networking, and CLE event for minority and women attorneys in Texas.  The TMCP has a unique format in that it not only provides valuable CLE credit, but it also gives attendees an opportunity to participate in informational interviews to discuss outside counsel opportunities.

Agenda: The CLE topics include: Negotiating Ethics, General Counsel/Managing Partner Panel, Supreme Court Update, Using Social Media, Health Care Update, What In-house Counsel Want from Outside Counsel, Legal Writing and Advocacy, Labor & Employment Update, Witness Credibility at Depositions and Trial, E-Discovery, Internal Investigations/FCPA, and a 2010 Compliance Update.  A complete copy of the agenda is available here

Corporate Counsel Of The Year Award: The Corporate Counsel of the Year Award is presented to the corporate counsel that has done the most to open doors for Texas minority and women attorneys by promoting diversity within their department and/or company and by consistently hiring minority and/or women attorneys in private practice to perform legal work on behalf of their company. The award also recognizes the corporate counsel’s support of the TMCP through sponsorship, participation in its programs, and the Program’s goals of diversity and inclusion.

On-line Event Registration is available here.

About the Texas Minority Counsel Program:  The TMCP was created in 1993 with the mission of increasing opportunities for minority and women attorneys who provide legal services to corporate and government clients, and to expose those organizations to the legal talent found in the minority and woman community. Since its inception, the TMCP has been instrumental in enhancing the employment and economic opportunities for minority and women attorneys throughout Texas.  For more information about TMCP, please click here.
