A Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani trial team, led by Partner Patrick Burns and Associate Kimana Bowen, secured a complete defense verdict on behalf of a government contractor client after a three-day jury trial in Maryland Circuit Court.
The plaintiff, a former CEO of the client, filed claims for breach of contract and unjust enrichment, seeking approximately $1.2 million in performance-based bonuses and equity compensation. At the close of the plaintiff’s case-in-chief, the GRSM team moved for judgment on all counts.
Bowen argued the motion, resulting in the court dismissing three of the four claims before the case proceeded to the jury. Following Burns’ closing argument, the jury returned a defense verdict on the remaining count, finding that while a valid contract existed, there was no breach.
This result underscores the continued success of GRSM’s Government Contracts practice in representing corporate and government contractor clients in complex commercial disputes and reflects the strength and collaboration of our Trial practice.
