Chicago real estate partner Thomas Cronin authored an article titled, "Rent at Your Own Risk" in the April/May 2012 issue of the Chicago Bar Association's CBA Record.
In the article, Mr. Cronin explains that the increase in Chicago area renters has resulted in a growing number of landlords who are often unfamiliar with the Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance ("RLTO") and its requirements, and therefore fall victim to its penalties and severe financial consequences. He provides an overview of the most problematic sections of the RLTO and owners' and landlords' solutions for compliance.
