Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani is pleased to announce the addition of two highly accomplished lateral partners, Alan Belcher and Randy Helmly, along with five senior counsel and associates, to its Charleston office. Their extensive experience and diverse practice areas strengthen the firm’s capabilities in South Carolina and beyond.

Belcher is a seasoned civil litigator with more than 100 trials to verdict in South Carolina state and federal courts, as well as in AAA and private arbitrations. His practice spans high-exposure personal injury, complex tort, and business litigation matters. Belcher began his career at a large national defense firm, where he represented insurers and corporate clients across the Southeast, and he is widely respected for his strategic approach to case evaluation, trial advocacy, and dispute resolution. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and West Virginia.
Helmly focuses his practice on complex litigation, with particular emphasis on commercial and business disputes, construction matters, catastrophic injury defense, and insurance coverage litigation. He brings extensive experience handling sophisticated, multi-party matters and advising insurers and policyholders on coverage and risk issues. Before joining GRSM, Helmly practiced with civil litigation firms in Charleston and Greenville and also served as a prosecutor with the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, further sharpening his courtroom skills. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
In addition, the Charleston office has recently welcomed Senior Counsel Kirkley White and Lucius Laffitte, as well as Associates Morgan Casper, Brian Peters, and Melissa Moss.
