Allison Becker and Kendra Stark Selected as Featured Speakers for National Commission on Correctional Healthcare’s 2023 Spring Conference

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Raleigh Managing Partner Allison Becker and Senior Counsel Kendra Stark have been selected as featured speakers for the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare's ("NCCHC") 2023 Spring Conference in New Orleans on April 29 – May 2.

They will co-present a session entitled "Correctional Medical Litigation and Best Practices for Defense."

Ms. Becker focuses her practice on health care, professional liability defense, insurance defense, and construction. Her health care practice involves defending providers against malpractice claims—including claims of catastrophic injury and wrongful death. In addition, Ms. Becker represents her health care clients before medical, dental, nursing, and mental health licensing boards. She also has extensive experience defending correctional medical, dental, and mental health providers across the country against Section 1983 deliberate indifference claims. She has nearly fifteen years of experience managing all aspects of litigation, including pre-suit negotiations, pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions practice, jury trials, and appeals. She has tried cases to verdict in both North Carolina and Virginia and argued before the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Ms. Stark focuses her practice on professional liability matters, including the defense of healthcare providers, veterinarians, attorneys, insurance agents and brokers, directors and officers, real estate agents and brokers, and architects and engineers. In addition, she regularly represents design professionals in construction defect and delay claims. She defends complex commercial and business actions, wrongful death and personal injury actions, and bid protests at the Government Accountability Office. Ms. Stark has substantial experience defending Section 1983 deliberate indifference cases against correctional medical providers.
